Communications Director & Policy Adviser

Afnan Nehela is passionate about uplifting stories and challenges of marginalized and underrepresented communities in public policy. As the Communications Director and Policy Adviser for State Senator Jamie Eldridge, Afnan focuses on advocating for issues around Criminal Justice Reform, Immigration, Healthcare, and Education.

Prior to joining the Massachusetts Senate, Afnan was a reporter and a filmmaker covering stories related to social and racial justice. Afnan is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Policy at Brandeis University and is a UMass Amherst graduate with a BA in Journalism and Psychology.
