Senator Eldridge Secures $10 Million for Route 2 Improvements in Economic Development Bill
$10,000,000 bond earmark allocated for state highway, Taylor - Piper Road intersection
BOSTON — State Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Marlborough) secured $10 million in bond funding for the improvement of the portion of state highway Route 2 in Acton, including the Taylor Road and Piper Road intersection, and connecting highways to the Concord Rotary in An Act Relative to strengthening Massachusetts’ economic leadership.
On Thursday, July 11th, the Massachusetts Senate unanimously passed this economic development bill, which makes investments in life sciences, climate tech, and small businesses. The bill builds on Massachusetts’ national leadership, creating an environment where businesses and workers thrive. The $2.86 billion in bonds authorized by this bill may stimulate new and proven industries, support workforce development and talent retention, and modernize economic growth strategies.
As a strong believer that robust economic development follows a 21st century transportation system, including up to date roads and bridges, Senator Eldridge prioritized the bill’s local budget allocation on improvements to Route 2 in Acton.
“Maintaining and improving our infrastructure is key for the development of Massachusetts’ economy and the quality of life of its residents,” said Senator Eldridge. “We must prioritize maintaining our roads to ensure that Massachusetts residents can count on reliable and safe travel. I am proud to work with my House colleagues Representative Simon Cataldo and Danillo Sena on fixing the Concord Rotary, and connecting state and town roads, including those in Acton.”
The amendment was adopted along with hundreds of others addressing issues ranging from local public works projects to comprehensive legislation worthy of their own bills.
A previous version of this bill has passed the House of Representatives. The two branches will now reconcile the differences between the bills before sending it to the Governor’s desk.
